Story Telling in Class

During this last days we have been preparing a Story Telling in class, but What Story Telling really mean for me?

In my opinión is the mixed of active learning and dynamic teaching with the final aim to create a story in which if you couldn't understant the language of the story you could know attending at the singal of the autor what he or she talking about. In other words it means that tell a story with lot of gestures and movements to help the students to participate in the story.

A good example of this story telling is the video that we have seen in class

  1. Gonzalo, this entry is appropriate because you're dealing with a topic seen in class. What are the benefits of using storytelling? What techniques, resources and materials did we use in class? Try to describe what we do in class and give more ideas about how you can use these materials. Remember you can use the 'reflection log' guide to get more ideas about how to write your blog.

  2. The benefits of story telling according with my point of view are:

==> The students believe that they characters of the story for this reason they are totally motivated
==> They learn traditional vocabulary and increase their fluency level
==> They improve some intelligences (Theory of multiple intelligences) like Bodily Kinesthetic (movements), Verbal Linguistic (like SPLASH SPLOSH while he is crossing the river), Interpersonal (in the story there are more than one character so the students could represent it in groups of 3 or 4)

In class we have done some examples before our presentation like the story that we done in the corridor ("We Are Going On A Bear Hunting") in which the students divided in groups represented differents scenes of the story (the grass, the river, the cave of the bear...)

I think that the most powerfull resource that we could use in this kind of activities is the imagination and the capacity to create an enviroment in where the children must be interested for the story and of course for the activity).
This kind of activities increase the level of active learning because if only the teacher plays the scene the students are in a passive way.
